Eireann Ingersoll

Teacher. Praetor. Professor. Educator.

All of these have something in common. They inspire. They inspire one to do that which they thought they could not. They inspire us to learn, grow, evolve, question, and search. Great teachers are the ones we remember. The ones who taught us, not only their material and how to pass tests, but how to be better students of life. The truly successful teacher teaches not just the material, but how to find the answers needed in the ever changing landscapes of professionalism. You learn what questions to ask. You learn that even though these are the current conditions, conditions change. They do that by being the example; by making sure by the time their students leave their course, they no longer need their teacher.

There is always new information being discovered to improve what was already improved upon. Every field of study is constantly evolving. If any of us are to be successful we must adapt.

I strive to someday be that teacher.  The one you still remember today when you think back on your academic career.  I will use everything I have learned from my decade of experience in this crazy field we call home to give my students the best chance they have to be successful using what I learn here and in the world.  I have just begun my road to a lifetime of helping others grow and I look forward to continuing to do so for a long time to come.

Throughout my journey in theatre I have played many roles on, behind, and adjacent to the stage and I continue to practice and hone my craft constantly.  Currently, I perform with an acapella singing group, a joust/stunt/stage combat team, and work at the NYRF.  I teach musical theatre and acting to children during the school year and in summer camps.  In addition, I provide set design, fight choreography, and scenic artist work for local colleges and theatres.  These various and dynamic endeavors in theatre afford me a unique skill set and a greater understanding of how all the pieces fit together to give us the magic of live theatre.   This aforementioned unique perspective has been an invaluable asset on stage and beyond .  Knowing I can provide this knowledge and insight to others to help them on their journey is a wonderful feeling.

I want to expand my knowledge and experience so I may better myself and be a more valuable resource for my students.
